- Course objectives
- The seminars focus on the development of abilities related to work with geoinformatic technologies, with the ArcGIS program and it's basic tools. Students will gain knowledge about the functionality of selected tools for working with geographic data and skills necessary to use them. Individual skills will then be practiced collectively on mapmaking.
- Learning outcomes
- 430/5000 Student is able to use basic ArcGIS tools for map processing, is able to insert geographic data, edit it, find and paste data from external sources, perform data georeferencing, select and correctly apply appropriate cartographic method for data visualization, compiles the legend and other compositional elements of the map, Performs simple spatial operations over geographic data is able to prepare thematic map from multiple sources.
- Syllabus
- Syllabus of seminars: 1. Introduction to working with GIS, basic introduction of ArcGIS, input and visualization of data. 2. Data visualization, insertion of descriptions. 3. Working with attribute table, table editing, connecting tables, calculation and polling. 4. Map composition in ArcGIS, working with drawings (Layout) 5. Cartograms and cartodiagrams. 6. Data collection, creation of own maps from acquired data. 7. Georeferencing of data. 8. Using geoportals as additional sources of maps. 9. Basics of data analysis, spatial operations. 10. and 11. Creating one's own map. 12. Presentation of created maps.
