Course objectives
The aim the subject is the presentation of basic scientific knowledge of soil science and biogeography to students. The essential information about the main soil roles in the environment, their basic components and features, diagnostics, classification and territorial distribution in Czech Repubic be provided in soilgeographical part of lectures. Finally the transfer options for the pedological and biogeographical knowledge to the secondary school pupils will be demonstrated. Another learning outcome of the course unit is to teach students to compile professional soil geographic regional text with respect to geological structure and relief. Biogegraphic knowledge will be based on knowledge of the role of organisms in the environment, evaluation and classification of biota according to ecological factors. Study will result in knowledge of the biomes of the world and their distribution.
Learning outcomes
Students are able to distinguish the basic soil types and kinds and to evaluate them according to their importance for the development of the nature and economic utilizing. In  biogeography, the students will be familiar with the contents   main biogeographic terms, basic properties of living matter, the roles of organisms in the environment, relations of orgamisms with environmental factors. The main group of life forms of plants and biogeographic division of the Earth will be demonstrated.
