Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the methods of hearing examination, they will acquire the skills needed to implement an orientation hearing examination using a portable audiometer. The student will acquire skills and practical skills in the development of communication skills of individuals with hearing impairment; will be familiar with compensatory aids used in the rehabilitation of individuals with hearing impairments; in the possibilities of hearing and speech reeducation in children and adults with hearing impairments. The student will be familiar with the intervention procedures for children and pupils with hearing impairment. The student will know the conditions for setting support measures in the education of children and pupils with hearing impairment.
Learning outcomes
Expected outcomes: • - the student knows in detail special pedagogical diagnostic tools evaluating the benefits of compensatory aids (hearing aids and cochlear implants) in children, pupils and students with hearing impairments; the student is familiar with the intervention procedures for children and pupils with hearing impairment, can describe the tools for the development of communication skills and apply them in practice.
Syllabus
  • • Compensatory aids - hanging hearing aids, bone and cochlear implants - basic overview of the function of hearing aids and cochlear implants, essential parameters of their setting, acoustic pairing and related functions of wireless devices. • Ontogenetic development of speech in a child with hearing impairment. • Individual speech therapy care in counseling and school facilities for the hearing impaired. • • Compensatory and speech therapy aids used in the rehabilitation of individuals with hearing impairments. • • Auditory education - reaction to sound, identification and differentiation of sounds, phonemic hearing, sentence discrimination • Breathing exercises and voice derivation - conscious use of voice, vocal hygiene. • Development of visual perception and sensing training. • Global reading, interviewing, working with a diary, reading comprehension and editing texts for SP. • Derivation of sounds, fixation and automation of individual sounds. • Auditory analysis and synthesis of words, vocabulary development. • Visual-motor communication systems and their use in practice. • Support measures in the education of children and pupils with disabilities.

Production of a tool for the development of communication skills in children and pupils with hearing impairments. Oral exam.
