- Course objectives
- Learning outcomes of the course unit is to acquaint students with basic possibilities of communication skills in children and pupils with hearing impairment in pre-school and school age. The student will be acquainted with various types of aids, PC programs and procedures in early hearing-speech education and individual and group speech therapy. Presented will be the problems of reading, reception and production of written text in people with prelingual auditory defects and the use of visual-motor communication systems in practice. Students will be able to test the sound levels in different acoustically demanding situations by means of a noise meter.
- Learning outcomes
- - Students will be focused on the possibilities of supporting the communication skills of children and pupils with hearing impairment in pre-school and school age. - Students will be acquainted with various types of aids, PC programs and procedures in early hearing-speech education and individual and group speech therapy. - Students will be able to test the sound levels in various acoustically demanding situations via the noise meter, as well as familiarize themselves with the basics of hearing measurement using an audiometer and a portable Senti Diagnostic.
- Syllabus
- Possibilities of communication and cooperation with the client - child, student, support. Role of interdisciplinary cooperation. Possibilities of communication and cooperation with parents and legal guardians of children in support. Interdisciplinary cooperation options. Use of interpreting services in counseling for individuals with hearing impairment. Early communication between mother and child with hearing impairment. Approaches to the development of communication competence in children with hearing impairment at pre-school age, before commencing compulsory school attendance - materials suitable for the development of communication skills. Audio-oral communication systems. Visual-motor communication systems. Communication approaches used in schools for the hearing impaired. The role of the deaf educators in the educational and educational process of children and pupils with hearing impairment. Stimulation of communication skills and activation of children and pupils in the context of social inclusion. Principles of correct communication with the child and pupil with hearing impairment in the school environment. Editing the environment and creating appropriate acoustic conditions. Using simulation tools to develop students' competences in the development of communication skills in children, pupils with hearing impairment. The issue of selecting appropriate materials and tools for developing communication skills.
