Course objectives
Students will understand the basic content and terminology of pedagogy and psychology so that they can use it not only in subsequent subjects, but above all in the continuous cultivation of their professional mindset.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: - Define pedagogy and psychology as sciences, their division and position in the system of scientific disciplines. - Define the basic terms and areas of pedagogy and psychology. - Define the importance of these disciplines and their use in the work of a teacher and assistant teacher.
Syllabus
  • Main topics: 1. Pedagogy as a scientific field, its division and significance for pedagogues. 2. The subject of psychology, its division and development. The conditioning of the psyche. Consciousness, Sensation and Perception. 3. The process of upbringing and education. Selected models of upbringing and education. 4. Attention, memory, imagination. Thinking, problem solving. 5. Pedagogical professions and their essence. Reflection and self-reflection of the educator. Professional portfolio. 6. Thinking and speech. Intelligence, abilities. Creativity. 7. Pupil at school. Characteristics of pupils (gender, social status,...). 8. Learning. Learning outcomes, types of learning. Emotion. 9. National curriculum and educational standards. School as an institution, organization, community. 10. Personality – concept, definition, structure and dynamics. Motivation, needs. 11. School system in the Czech Republic. Results and effects of education. 12. Stress, stressors, burnout syndrome, psychohygiene. Will and free processes, decision making. 13. Educational aspects of inclusion, diversity (inclusion) from the point of view of pedagogy and psychology. 14. Professional portfolio of a teacher.
