Course objectives
The goal of the course is to open a platform where reality rather than theory is debated, to identify scenarios which pose biggest challenges to the teacher and to seek solutions. It is also conceived as a space where concerns can be shared and community support found. The course contends that the teaching community should contribute to the individual teacher's wellbeing.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course the student shall be able to: - identify factors and scenarios that are likely to post a challenge to them, and address them meaningfully;
- to understand the importance of reflection and action in the process;
- to understand teaching and learning as an organic process;
- to understand the role of community and supervision;
- to embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
Syllabus
  • BLOCK 1 1. Challenges in everyday teaching practice 2. Reality report: Practising teachers as guest speakers. INDEPENDENT ASYNCHRONOUS WORK 3. Identifying a pedagogical issue 4. Research on solutions (reading, interviews, observations) BLOCK 2 5. Sharing the outcomes.
