Course objectives
The course deals with the topic of personal development. It focuses on self-exploration and exploration of others, forms and methods of communication, assertive techniques, cooperation. It also brings a view of the manager's personality in connection with his presentation and creating his own image in other people. Motivation, leadership and meeting management, time-management and stress-management as selected skill concepts are discussed. An important aspect is the connection with practice. The findings are presented with regard to their use in the conditions of schools and school facilities in the Czech Republic.

Knowledge: an overview of selected concepts of personal development and managerial skills
Skills: application of individual concepts in practical situations
Attitudes: the ability to recognize and respond appropriately taccording to concepts
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should know and be able to:
- Students will acquire basic knowledge of socio-cultural and managerial skills
- Student will be familiarized with managerial competencies in terms of schools and school facilities
- The student will learn the basics of managerial skills
- Student will be acquainted with professional literature on socio-cultural and managerial skills
- Student will be able to use tools in socio-cultural and managerial skills
- Student will be able to use the basic tools of managerial skills in school practice
- The student will have a positive attitude towards socio-cultural and managerial skills

  • 1) Possibilities for exploring the world, pradigm and its changes.
  • 2) Self-exploration and learning about others.
  • 3) Communication skills of manager.
  • 4) Verbal communication.
  • 5) Principles of correct reasoning.
  • 6) Assertiveness as a strategy for negotiations.
  • 7) Personality of leading manager.
  • 8) Image of leading manager.
  • 9) Time management, stress management.
  • 10) Leadership, work motivation.
  • 11) Working meeting as a tool for direct communication with the people.
  • 12) Teamwork, rules of successful negotiations with people.

Teaching methods
The course consits of a self-preparation done by student at home and a consultation held at the faculty. For each consultation student is obliged to review given topics (theoretical preparation). In the class the information is delivered in the form of a lecture joined with discussions or solving a case study.
