Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
During the whole semester (60 hours in total incl. preparation), the students carry out teaching practice, which entails individual tutoring of pupils with special needs, including socially disadvantaged pupils. The students are going to perform their tutoring in the pupil’s family, in the school or in another institution (e.g. a non-profit organisation; a university; a library). The purpose is to apply the gained knowledge and skills in practice and learn about the social aspects of education.
Learning outcomes
A student will be able to: 1) plan and realized individual learning plan 2) describe learning difficulties of pupils from social disadvantage families 3) focus own teaching process individual way
Syllabus
  • • The organisation of the cooperation (pupil selection, negotiating the terms of cooperation). • Tutoring plan. • As part of the course, the students will have the opportunity to attend lessons, mainly from the field of social and special education, focused on dealing with specific situations encountered during their practice (e.g. work with a pupil with special educational needs, communication with parents, etc.). • Tutoring – 26 hours of work with a pupil, 34 hours of lesson planning (worksheets, teaching aids), continuous record-keeping of the pupil’s progress, educational needs - administration • Submitting completed documents about tutoring in the appropriate homework vault of IS.

Teaching methods
Skill training, theoretical preparation by means of a lecture together with self-study of academic sources, group discussion.
Assessment methods
Regular cooperation with the pupil being tutored, submitting documents about the practice (a contract; a record sheet; a reflection of practice).
