Course objectives
The subject develops a deeper understanding of environmental problems, motivates to adopt and apply the presented approaches to practice. The aim is to delve deeper into the other three approaches in the field of environmental education, namely learning in context, learning about and inside the real world, and learning with one's own involvement.
Learning outcomes
The student is able to orientate in basic ecological concepts and contexts, is able to critically evaluate environmental information. The student will propose his/her own activity on some of the presented topics of EE and pull all these tips into practice on a work with a chosen target group. The student will be able to evaluate its effectiveness and suggest improvements.
Syllabus
  • 1. Environmental issues: water and soil, energy, global climate change, tropical rain forests, care for the Šumava NP as a case study.
  • Summary of basic environmental contexts, including didactic recommendations on teaching the basics of ecology, environmentalism, global environmental problems and principles of sustainable development.
  • 2. Overview and Practical demonstrations of practice-approved approaches to EEC:
  • We learn in context
  • - thematic teaching - use of methodical publications Golden thread, Seven colours of rainbow, Forest at school, school in the forest, etc.
  • We learn about and inside the real world
  • - regional teaching, locally grounded learning
  • We learn by our own involvement
  • - Project teaching, Eco School, School for sustainable life, Globe etc.
  • 3. Presentation of students' topics
  • Students' practical demonstrations of activating methods usable in EEC
