Course objectives
The course builds on the introduction to social work students who completed during undergraduate studies. The goal is to understand the basic principles of supervision as a natural part of the work in the helping professions, learning theoretical foundations of supervision and familiarity with the practical aspects of the supervision process, including the selection of knowledge and skills. The course provides training in supervision, but to competently handle the supervision of a quality tool in helping professions, either as a recipient or authority within peer support.
Learning outcomes
The student will understand the importance of supervision in helping professions.
Syllabus
  • 1st Introduction to: Supervision as a tool of the professional competence of workers in the helping professions and to protect clients. 2nd Helping professions, workers in helping professions - helping motives, risk profession. 3rd The concept of supervision, supervision of borders and distinguish it from similar disciplines. 4th Objectives of supervision. 5th Classification of supervision according to individual criteria. 6th Supervision Function: The function of support (restorative), education (formative, development, management functions (legislative, administrative, inspection, supervision). 7th Development of supervision in the Czech lands and abroad. 8th Current status of supervision in the helping professions and social services, legislative basis, training in supervision. 9th Process Supervision: Supervision relationship actors supervision: supervisee person, the person supervisor. Working alliance - the relationship of working alliance. 10th Supervision contract. 11th Ethical aspects of supervision. Risks Supervision; obstacles quality supervision. 12th Supervision as teaching, supervision of aging. Using the principles of lifelong learning in supervision. Implementation of supervision in the organization as a learning process.

Students elaborate essay: 1st Reflection: Supervise the work of helping the worker - reflections on their supervisory work, or work chosen people - between 1 - 2 pages
