- Course objectives
- By the end of the course, students will be able to: -Develop sensitivity to sound perception -Distinguish different qualities and layers of sound in the environment and in artistic practice. -Perceive sound as an autonomous expressive medium as well as a component of multimedia creation. -Experiment with voice and body as sources of sound -Gain experience with vocal and bodily techniques inspired by contemporary performative practices. -Discover and explore their own unique sound expression. -Master basic sound recording techniques -Learn to operate recorders, microphones, and mobile applications, considering the acoustic properties of spaces. -Plan and execute simple sound recordings. -Edit and process recorded material -Get familiar with the basics of sound editing and post-production in both professional and open-source software. -Create a short edited sound recording or sound composition. -Reflect on and share sound creations -Present and share personal and collaborative sound projects through available platforms. -Understand the ethical and authorship aspects of working with sound and sound databases. -Integrate sound into personal artistic practice Explore how sound can be incorporated into visual, performative, or intermedia projects.
- Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course, students will be able to: Use voice and body to create sound in performative and experimental contexts. Record sound with basic technical and acoustic awareness. Edit and process sound recordings using accessible software. Critically listen to, analyze, and reflect on sound works. Share and present sound creations ethically and effectively. Integrate sound into their own artistic or interdisciplinary projects.
- Syllabus
- 1. Producing sound (Inspiration: Ridina Ahmed, Petr Váša, Hearing Differently project) 2. Composing and recording sound (acoustics, working with recorders and microphones) 3. Editing and post-producing sound (Adobe Audition, DaVinci Resolve, or other free software) 4. Listening to and sharing sound (sharing platforms, sound databases, ethics)
