- Course objectives
- The course 'Gramatika B' focuses mainly on the practice of various grammatical aspects at advanced level within the word classes listed below. Students are provided with the theoretical background the knowledge of which should enhance their understanding of the underlying principles of the language studied. The seminar work involves discussing the topic using the examples from the handout as well as the students' own examples, exercises from the Worksheet, S. Chalker's Workbook and Grammar I. by R. Povolná.
- Syllabus
- The course is based on 'A Student's Grammar of the English Language' by Sidney Greenbaum and Randolph Quirk, namely chapters 5,6,7 and 9. Week 1 - 6: Nouns (determiners, number, gender, case); Week 7 - 9: Pronouns (personal, reflexive, possessive, relative, interrogative, demonstrative, indefinite); Week 10 - 12: Adjectives and adverbs (functions and classification of adjectives and adverbs, comparison of adjectives and adverbs); Week 13: Prepositions.All materials are available from Moodlinka - course Grammar B.

- The students are required to study the Handouts for each seminar and prepare answers to questions and exercises in the Worksheet (see Moodlinka. Requiremetns: attendance 8O%, all required homework (oral as well as written), 3 tests during the term (pass mark 65%). To complete the course the students have to pass the final credit test (pass mark 65%)
