- Students will work on improving their English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes will move through the coursebook New Progress to Proficiency. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students.

- Assessment methods (in Czech)
- Course Requirements: Attendence is mandatory. Any student missing more than 3 classes without prior approval from the teacher will not be allowed to sit the credit test. Continuous Assessment: Passing continuous assessment is necessary to be allowed to sit the credit test. There are four components, each counting for 25% of the grade: 1. Preparation - Students must be prepared for class, which means having done any homework and having looked over the course work for that day. 2. Active Participation - Students must be willing to volunteer information and opinions, and not merely wait to be called on. 3. Essays - There will be two essays assigned of about 300 - 350 words each. Essays are expected to be typewritten. 4. Quizes - There will be two short quizes given during the year. Credit Test: If students recieve at least a 65% mark in Continuous Assessment, they will be allowed to sit for the credit test, which will have a written part, worth 60%, and an oral part, worth 40%. The pass mark for the credit test is 65%.
