Course objectives
The goal is to acquire the basic knowledge on the problems of vocabulary formation, its development, enrichment and changes. Bias at formation and meaning of words.
Syllabus
  • 1. Sourses of vocabulary, historical development. 2. Doublets, loan-words, anglicisms and their French equivalents. 3. Word formation: derivation, composition, change of grammar category, abbreviations, acronyms. 4. Generalisation of proper names, geolexicology. 5. Phraseology.
