Course objectives
The goal of the subject is learning about intercultural relations by getting acquired with the culture of foreign country by being aware of the differences, by understanding other cultures and simultaneously by investigating and understanding the basis of one’s own culture. The seminar deals with a comparison of cultural models of Czech Republic and French speaking countries.
Syllabus
  • 1. Concept definition: culture, civilisation, life and institutions, interrelations among various cultures. 2. Prejudices, stereotypes, ethnocentrism. 3. Culture and language. 4. Culture confrontation. 5. Exploitation of these issues in foreign language teaching. 6. Activities for strengthening the tolerance in school environment.
