Course objectives
In this course the students are to obtain basic knowledge about the German phonemic system and the correct articulation as related to the suprasegmental level of German. The focus is on the correct pronunciation of German and on mastering of methodology to teach and correct pronunciation mistakes typical of Czech native speakers with respect to pre-primary schools students.

  • 1. Characteristics of German articulation on the suprasegmental level. 2. methodology to teach and correct pronunciation mistakes typical of Czech native speakers. 3. Analyzing of texts from phonetic point of view. 4. Methodology of pre-primary schools students teaching.

Assessment methods
1. Independent home learning of some chapters dealing with phonetics. 2. Text analysis from the phonetic point of view. 3. Work on students own phonetic dictionary based on the text analysis. 4. Collecting of materials for the practice of the correct pronunciation with very young children (riddles, poems, pictures etc.) 5. A written test controling the mastering of a basic phonetic analysis.
