Course objectives
The course continues the course Geoinformatics for the Teacher of Geography, Cartography and Geographic Information Systems. It concentrates on such issues as the geographical data analysis in the GIS environment ArcView 9.x Main aim of the course is to be able to make spatial operations with geographical data, e.g. intersection of geographical data, its union, cutting data, creation of buffer areas, connection of interactive maps published on the web sites and elaboration of a project in ArcView.
Syllabus
  • FFamiliarization with the work in ArcView 9.x; The students who passed one of the electable courses in last semester will further improve their knowledge and skills here. Use of different functions of ArcView9.x Design a project using GIS; project’s connection with geographical curriculum of basic school or high school;

Assessment methods
Regular teaching by the form of practice in the GIS Laboratory. Each student is supposed to work independently in the GIS Laboratory .To complete this course successfully, it is necessary to submit the partial tasks and the final work – the project.
