Course objectives
School Pedagogy II deals with questions school teaching, planning and leading lessons and with problems of school evaluation. At the end of this course students should be able to: - analyse the most important conceptions of education in history - characterise questions of educational curriculum in czech school - make a didactic analysis of subject-matter (seminary work) - formulate educational goals using Bloom´s taxonomy of cognitive goals - make a plan ofsubject-matter for a few lessons - purpose a way to verify results of teaching (tests, working papers) - analyse possibilities and processes of school evaluation
Syllabus
  • School teaching. Historical development of teaching methods. Current tendency of interpretation of teaching (Constructivist versus transmissive). Didactic principles. Teacher teaching. Elementary didactic categories: goal contents, methods, forms, means, conditions, teaching representations (conceptual apparatus). Motivation at teaching, taking advantages of children’s interests, needs and their development. Activation of pupils during teaching process. The importance of indirective educational methods. “Schola ludus” – (active method of teaching; methods of playing). Motivation of school performance on 1st stage of Basic school. Hygienic conditions at the teducation (1st stage of B. S.). Tutorial aim and its role in control of the teaching. Formulations of aims in both teacher’s and pupil’s jobs. Taxonomy of goals of teaching. Contents of education (teaching). Educational curriculum, standards. Elementary tendency in the selection of educational contents. Teaching plan, syllabuses, text books. Teaching material. Didactic analysis of this content of curriculum. Basic content of curriculum. Integration of teaching contents of curriculum and interdisciplinary relations. Teaching strategies. Teaching methods and their classification, characteristics. Methodical strategies in tuition. Activating teaching methods (problematic, project etc.). Organization of teaching. Lesson as an elementary form of teaching. Frontal, group and individual ordering of teaching. Home preparation of the pupils. Instrumental conditions of teaching. Plasticity in teaching. Modern conception of plasticity. Teaching aids. The results of education (teaching) and their determination. Examining, assessment and grading. Problems connected with creation and assessment of didactic tests. School fruitfulness of a pupil, the teacher’s influence on school success. Planning of pedagogical work. Teacher’s preparation for the teaching. Daily preparation. School management, legal problems in school system.
