Course objectives
At the end of this course the students will be able to deal with standard morphological plan of the Czech language. The sudent will understand the problems of the functional and formal morphology: type of morpheme, grammatical structure of the word, criteria of classification of the parts of speech (morphological, semantic and syntactical criteria). Students will also be able to recognize the morphological categories of the nouns and verbs, grammatical forms of the nouns and the verbs (usage of the grammatical forms, variants, irregularity in the declination and the conjugation). Students will know uninflected parts of speech in the Czech stylistic aspects in the morphology.

Syntactical function of the parts of speech.Transfer between parts of speech. 7. Formal morphology. 8. Morphology of the nouns and verbs. 9. Uninflected parts of speech in Czech. 10. Czech Orthography Regulations with focus on morphological orthography.

Teaching methods
The type of study: seminar. Textual analysis, Identification of the language phenomena in the text. Problem method. Controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
To finish successfully, passing the exam is expected. The exam has a written and oral parts. Written part contains three parts: test on concrete knowledge of formal morphology, test on theoretical knowledge of morphology, and written professional interpretation. To finish the subject continuous written checks during the term are compulsory. 1st Knowledge of Czech orthography (coherent text), 2 grammar mistakes are allowed. 2nd Morphological exercise (word, word forms, parts of speech, nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals). 3rd verbs and inflected parts of speech. Students must obtain at least 75% in every part. According to the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk University , there will be no re-corections of these tests written during the term. Dates of these tests will be announced via IS at the beginning of the semester.Fulfiling the requirements is the necessity to be allowed to sit the final exam. According to the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk University it is possible to apply in justified cases, (in written form) to finish the subject in second re- sit. The attendance of seminars is set as compulsory according to the Study and Examination Regulations of Masaryk University.
