Course objectives
The aim of this course is to provide fundamental information about about the issue   education of pupils with physical handicaps to ducational system in the Czech Republic. Students will learn theoreticallly and practically how for successful education of handicapped pupils at elementary schools.
Syllabus
  • Curriculum plan: 1. Historical development of approach towards people with     disabilities. 2. Definitions of terminilogy and illnes. 3. System of education with physical handicaps. 4. Legislation and education of children, pupils and students with physical handicaps. 5. Integration and inclusion in relation to individuals with physical handicaps. 6. Individual Educational Plan (IEP). 7. Specifics of working with individuals with disabilities   handicaps. 8. Somatic, psychological and social aspects of health disadvantage. 9. Comprehensive rehabilitation.

Teaching methods
Seminar, class discussion, students project and their presentation and discussion.
Assessment methods
Project and their presentation. Project and its content: 1. Create individual education plan model pupil/student with physical handicaps. 2. Create an educational tool with   specific student health disadvantage (compensation, working, relaxing, etc.). 3. Prepare a lesson in an inclusive classroom model   s ~ acquired using teaching strategies. 4. The model case to think about important material-technical and organizational measures necessary for a successful education model pupil with physical handicaps. 5. Prepare documents for the interview with the student's parents   the handicapped. The project will be followed in teaching presented and discussed. Evaluated the overall processing and presentation of the project.
