Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to introduce students to the main tendencies in the development of Czech drama after the year 1989. At the end of this course, students should be able 1) to understand the history of Czech drama after the year 1989, 2) to analyze literary works, 3) to include literary works into cultural context.

  • 1. Czech drama after the year 1989. 2. Contemporary developments trends of Czech drama. 3. Personalities of Czech drama after the year 1989. 4. The analysis of production. 5. Secondary literature of the subject.

Teaching methods
In the form of a seminar (interpretations and analysis of selected works), students will get a deeper insight into poetics of a literary work. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher. The main method of teaching is a seminar.
Assessment methods
Type of completion: active participation in seminars and attendance of at least 80%.
