Course objectives
The student acquires theoretical knowledge of personality and education of people with low vision. Learning outcomes of the course is to make students understand visual impairment in the context of contemporary concepts.
Syllabus
  • Education of people with visual impairment, terminological base.
  • Psychological starting points for inclusive education of children, pupils and students with visual impairment.
  • Legislation on school issues of pupils with visual impairment.
  • Pupils with low vision (developmental specifics, diagnostics of needs according to the type of visual impairment and degree of functional vision loss, communication with persons with visual impairment, special aids).
  • Counselling services for pupils with visual impairments in the field of education and rehabilitation.
  • Visually impaired pupil in pre-school education. Educational program for preschool education.
  • A pupil with visual impairment in the elementary education. Educational program for elementary education. Support measures.
  • Secondary and lifelong learning of people with visual impairment. Employment of people with visual impairment.
  • Special pedagogical diagnostics of visual loss.
  • Didactic principles, methods, forms and means in the education of pupils with visual impairment.
  • Special optical aids and aids for pupils and students with light vision impairment, visual hygiene.
  • The importance of visual and social rehabilitation in the education of pupils with visual impairment.
  • Visual impairment as part of multiple disability. Support and cooperation with the family.
