- Course objectives
- The aim of the course entitled Education of Individuals with Physical Disabilities and Chronic Disease is to acquaint students with basic concepts of the field physically disabilities: subject, etiology, classification and characteristics of physical disabilities. Remediation, methodology of education and didactics. The system of special care facilities for individuals with physical disabilities. Prevention, integration/inclusion, consultancy. After successful completion, the student will be well oriented in problems of upbringing and education of children students with physical disabilities and chronic illness. Student will be able to characterize different types of disability. Students will be focus on counselling and diagnosis of physical disabilities.
- Syllabus
- Course syllabus: 1. The development of the society towards physically disabilities and ill persons. 2. The current situation in education of physically disabled (rehabilitation units, special pre-school education, special schools elementary and grammar schools). 3. Education of physically disabled individuals in mainstream schools (legislation) 4.Counselling system in the Czech Republic. 5. Organisation of hospital schools (content and organisation of education, studying plans, curriculum, and books). 6. Characteristic of chronically ill (heart diseases, respiratory system, allergy, disorders of metabolism, tumour diseases, skin diseases). 7. Epilepsy. 8. Specifics of work with chronically ill individuals. 9. Central and peripheral paresis, characteristic of the most often disorders by children. 10. Central and peripheral paresis, characteristic of the most often diseases by adults (Sclerosis multiplex, Parkinson disease). 11. Cerebral palsy, aetiology, forms of CP, psycho-motor development. 12. Deformations, classification, characteristic of particular deformations. 13. Degenerative disorders of body (arthritis, tuberculosis of bones, arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis, necrosis). 14. Muscular dystrophy (myopathy), aetiology, consequences, care. 15. Specifics of work with physically disabled. 16. ADD/ ADHD, psycho-motor development. 17. Social physical and social aspects of physical dysfunction. 18. Comprehensive rehabilitation, perspectives and trends.
