- The subject falls primarily in the educational field "Man and Nature", the field of study "Geography". The subject mainly concerns the expected outcomes of the thematic units a) the Earth's natural image b) the place where we live c) the environment d) geographic information, data sources, cartography and topography.

- Course objectives
- The course is designed as a basic course for students, which aims to introduce students to the combined form of frontal education, discussion and students' own work into the basic terminology and factology from selected natural, technical and social risks in the Czech Republic. They will be acquainted with the role of institutions and bodies of crisis management in the Czech Republic. Students will acquire a qualification that can be used for the preliminary assessment of the territory from the point of view of selected risks on the basis of publicly available data sources and acquires knowledge and skills applicable to the type of event. Learning outcomes will help students formulate attractive lessons in their future workplaces and present them as important knowledge for the needs of everyday life. After the course the student will be able to: • Use basic data sources for risks, evaluate them in a framework and apply the appropriate response in the territory. • Have a coherent idea of the organization of crisis management in the Czech Republic. • Know the basic terminology associated with selected hazards.
- Learning outcomes
- The student has an idea about the basic natural and social risks in the contemporary world, the places of their most frequent occurrence and is instructed how to respond to threats.
- Syllabus
- 1. Disaster management in the Czech Republic. Legislation, institutions, authorities. Crisis situation. 2. Natural hazards: regional and torrential floods, landslides and rock climbing, forest fire and agricultural crops, data sources, evaluation, adequate response in the area. 3. Technological risks: fire in building and communication, leakage of toxic substances from production, storage and transport, data sources, evaluation, adequate response in the area. 4. Social risks: terrorism, demonstrations, social and political unrest, epidemics, data sources, evaluation, adequate response in the territory.
