Course objectives
Students will have hands-on experience in using various methods and techniques of TEFL.They will cover the basic principles of teaching and developing language skills and systems, they will consider the differences in teaching various levels and age groups, they will choose and evaluate materials for their lessons and they will learn how to give feedback to their prospective students and peers. The participants will be expected to reflect on their teaching and learning experience based on the EPOSTL (European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages) and they will react to some issues in writing. The course will be closely connected with the Practical language course and some tasks will be integrated.
Course objectives:
to raise students awareness of basic principles in TEFL
to develop their teaching skills
to make them reflect on their teaching and learning
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students • will be able to think critically and express their opinion on the subject matter (basic principles of teaching and developing language skills and systems) • will be able to participate in discussions about topics in question • will be able to share with other students their learning and teaching experience and reflect on it in relation to methods and approaches used in English language teaching • will be able to demonstrate newly acquired knowledge including relevant terminology • will be able to apply principles of of teaching and developing language skills and systems in their teaching • will be able to reflect on their on their teaching and learning experience.
