Course objectives
The SS will be acquainted with the fundamental concepts of probability theory, statistical inference and descriptive statistics.
Learning outcomes
The SS will be able to a) assess the data in a table or chart graphically and quantitatively. b) calculate the probability of some classical random events (classical in the sense that all possible outcomes of an experiment are equally likely), calculate probabilities, expected value and variance of a random variable distributed normally, exponencially, binomially or Poissonwise. d) carry out a statistical t-test and calculate a confidence interval for the expected value of the mean of a normally distributed variable.
