Course objectives
The course complements the study of art history with selected chapters from the history of applied art, photography and non-European cultures. It thus expands the existing teaching, which has left out these creative and cultural zones. The aim is to provide a broader overview, problematization of some assumptions, further development of the possibilities of applying the history of art in the teaching of art education and in interdisciplinary connections.
Learning outcomes
Students define the basic works, personalities and characteristics of art of selected species and cultures.
Students are able to explain the specifics of individual artistic areas and cultures.
Students will be able to appropriately didactically transform knowledge of art history and other disciplines for the needs of specific teaching practice.
Syllabus
  • Selected topics from the history of applied art (important stages of glass and ceramic art, furniture and home culture, clothing and textile)
  • Selected chapters from the history of Czech photography
  • Selected topics from the history of non-European art (architecture, urbanism and religious symbolism of the Incas, Mughal architecture in India, the intellectual ideal and Chinese ink painting).
