Course objectives
The aim of the course is to gain practical experience in the field of leisure pedagogy. The aim of this practice is to acquire basic skills (communication with the target group, introduction of games and activities, their choice in relation to the educational goal, preparation and management of activities) related to the implementation of leisure activities (e.g. games, but also various activities - according to the student's choice and interest).
Learning outcomes
Ability to plan and implement leisure activities:
- Learners can design, prepare, and lead leisure activities that are appropriate to the age and needs of the target group.
- The learner can choose appropriate games and activities by the educational objectives and principles of leisure pedagogy.
Effective communication with the target group:
- The learner will demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and understandably with children and young people aged 6-18 years.
- The student will be able to work with verbal and non-verbal communication, motivate participants and deal with common communication situations.
Master the role of an educator in leisure activities:
- Learners will acquire skills associated with leading a group, setting rules and encouraging participation.
- They will learn to work with group dynamics and reflect on their pedagogical action.
Reflection and development of professional skills:
- Learners can analyze and reflect on their own practice, identify strengths and weaknesses in their practice, and articulate areas for professional growth.
- Based on supervision and mentoring, learners can apply feedback to their work.
Knowledge of the organisation and conditions of practice in leisure settings:
- The learner becomes familiar with the operation and organizational structure of the facility in which he/she practices.
- The learner understands the role of the leisure educator in the context of the setting and can adapt his/her activity to its specificities.

Teacher's information
Participants have the task to independently find a place of practice and implement it with the target group of children and youth between 6 and 18 years of age in the following distribution - 12 hours of listening in the form of shadowing - 14 hours of direct pedagogical work with mentor support - 14 hours of independent direct work under supervision. The internship can be carried out in the following institutions: youth home, school club, after-school club, children's home, etc. At the end of the individual practice, the participant will demonstrate the skill of pedagogical work with the target group and the adequacy of educational strategies closely linked to the educational activity.
