Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the history of the development of teaching methods in the didactics of foreign languages and with the principles of the current intercultural communication approach. Another goal is a detailed explanation of the concept of intercultural communication competence and its meaning in the context of contemporary teaching and learning of foreign languages.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students: - have an overview of methodological trends in the history of foreign language didactics; - understands the principles and goals of the current intercultural communication approach; - they have an overview of the methodological procedures and goals of teaching language resources in the teaching of the Russian language; - are able to appropriately choose and design exercises for the development of pupils' productive and receptive skills in the teaching of the Russian language at ŽŠ.
Syllabus
  • 1. Development of methodological trends and current approach to teaching and learning foreign languages. Educational needs of pupils. SPU.
  • 2. Organizational forms of face-to-face and online teaching, possibilities of their connection. Teaching methods, their typologies, principles of choice and use in RJ classes at primary schools.
  • 3. Development of learners' linguistic competence. Teaching language resources (lexical, grammatical, phonetic, graphic).
  • 4. Development of receptive skills (reading and listening with comprehension).
  • 5. Development of oral productive skills: speaking and oral interaction.
  • 6. Development of written productive skills: writing and written interaction skills. Specifics of online interaction: emails and social networks.
