Course objectives
Course description. In the typology of receptive styles artistic metacreation appears to be only one among many others. From a diachronic point of view it might be acting as an initiator of changes in the receptive paradigm. This becomes particularly obvious in the atmosphere of totalitarian regime.
Syllabus
  • Syllabus: 1. Modernization of Erben's Kytice in different cultural contexts from the 1890's onwards. Disputes over Erben in the 1930's (Grund, Mukařovský, Jakobson). 2. Erben - heading towards folk poetry or modern myth? Reducing journalism - inovative patterns (Skácel, Fuks, Suchý-Havlík, "Cimrman"). 3. How to understand Němcová; ways of reading Babička. Different attempts at modernization of Babička beginning in the 1950's (Hynek: Babička po pitvě, Seifert: Píseň o Viktorce, a film version directed by Pavlíček and Moskalyk, illustrations by Velíšek, fetishistic revue "Babička").
