Course objectives
The Latin language and literature at the end of the Classic period, the cultural situation of medieval Europe in the early Middle Ages; Latin as the language of the Middle Ages; medieval Latin poetry and prose (secular and religious); classical and medieval culture from the Church Fathers to Renaissance humanism; readings, an overview and examples of selected literary and diplomatic texts.

  • Kulturní situace středověké Evropy v raném středověku. - Latina jako jazyk středověku. - Středolatinská poezie světská i duchovní, její prozodie a teorie básnictví. - Středolatinská próza, rétorika, formulářové výtvory, teorie literatury. - Středověk a antická kultura od patristiky po renesanční humanismus.
