Course objectives
European painting of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Syllabus
  • Introduction into European painting of the 17th and 18th centuries. Themes: major specialisations of the baroque painting, themes and concepts of the baroque painting (frescos, altar and easel paintings, preliminary works, ephmer decorations, concettismo, theory of decorum, ilusionismus ) social backround (educations and social position of the painters, painter and patron of arts); introduction into the oeuvre of Caravaggio, brothers Carracci, Andrea Pozzo, Nicolas Poussin, Diego Velásquez, P. P. Rubens, Rembrandt, Franz Anton Maulbertsch, Karel Škréta, Petr Brandl and others.
