Course objectives
This seminar should give the students a summary of the functions of symbolism and imagination in general in various genres of baroque literature.
Syllabus
  • The work in the seminar will consist of detailed analyses of sample texts by various writers and books of the Czech baroque (for example J. A. Komenský, B. Bridel, F. Kadlinský, V. J. Rosa, the homiletics and a digest of popular art); the results of individual interpretations will be brought to a broader context through the explanation of symbolism and its sources.
