- Course objectives
- During the course of Classical Philosophy I. will students learn of the backgrounds of Greek philosophy and it's evolution from the beginnings in Miletos till the teaching and writing of Plato. The stress will be laid not only on lives and works of illustrious philosophers, but on evolution on philosophical thinking and on literar-critical analysis of the works too.
- Syllabus
- 1. Beginnings of the Greek Philosophy, it's relationship to myth. 2. Presocratical philosophy: a) old physicists; b) Pythagoras; c) School of Elea; d) young physicists. 3. Sofists and atropological "revolution" in Greek philosophy. 4. Socrates. Socratical schools. 5. Plato: Life and work.
