Course objectives
The course offers practical experience in software localization - a specific area of translation. Localization includes a complete conversion of a software product into another language, i.e. the actual program code (so that it communicates in the target language), help files, manuals, etc. Localization is usually accomplished in teams with the support of specialized software tools working in network environment. In the present course, the professional system Passolo will be used. Students will completely localize a selected product in the course of the semester; in Fall 2005, we shall try to localize the Passolo system itself.
