- Prolegomena to the connoisseurship, one of the principal methods of the work of arthistorian in museum, in art collecting, in art trade and in the care of historical monuments.
- Syllabus
- Basic topics:
- 1. Aims and limits of the connoisseurship?
- 2. Historical and stylistic critic.
- 3. Problems of attribition and datation of paintings.
- 4. Genuine or false? (original, copy, replic, false, workshop work).
- 5. History painting, portrait, landscape, still life, genre.
- 6. Origin and history of art museums.
- 7. Principles of museum work.
- 8. "Old great men" of the connoisseurship (B. Berenson, A. Bredius, W. von Bode, Th. von Frimmel, M. J. Friedländer, V. Kramář and others.
