Course objectives
The aim of the course is a systematic explanation of morphologic and syntactic phenomena of the normative Ancient Greek grammar. Following topics will be dealt with during the course: alphabet, phonetics and phonology, inflexion of nouns (a-stems, o-stems, plosive consonant stems, pronouns), inflexion of verbs (present and future tense, active and mediopassive aorist) and syntax (the most common types of infinitive constructions, content and optative clauses, conditional sentences - "real" and "unreal"). At the end of this course students should be familiar with the basic phenomena of the Ancient Greek grammar. They should also be able to understand texts in the original language with help of a dictionary.
