Course objectives
In this course the students learn the basis of morphology as a linguistic discipline. The objective is to learn the difference between lexical and inflectional morphology and the basic terminology of both disciplines. The aim is tat the student is able to interpret the word classes, the grammatical categories of the nouns, the use and classification of the verbs, the nouns and other word classes. The theory is combined with practical exercises that shoud deepen the practical knowledge of grammar acquired within the course of practical Dutch.

  • 1. Introduction, the field of morphology, difference between word formation and inflection, basic terminology. 2. Basic terminology in the field of word formation: compounding and derivation. 3.
