Course objectives
This course deals with Greek history in years 1909-1949. The students will be closely acquainted with advancement of Greek society, with single regimes and with economic and politic circumstances. This period is well-known like a war-period. We will talk over causes, process and consequences of all the conflicts (Balkan wars, WWI, War in Asia Minor, WWII, resistance and civil war.) We will get acquainted with notable personalities of the Greek history (Eleutherios Venizelos, Ioannis Metaxas, Nikos Zahariadis, Aris Velouhiotis, Napoleon Zervas, Alexandros Papagos, and other.) These lectures are suitable not only for students of history, but also for students of Balkans languages, especially new-Greek language too. At the end of the course students will have a view of development in Greece in years 1909-1949.
