Course objectives
The course focuses on classical field from anthropological research, the theory of kinship in particular. Students will be acquainted with basic forms of social organization, the issue of nuclear and extended family, question of incest taboo and particular explanations of it, the issue of lineages, different groups of descent, kinship terminology and many other issues connected with given subject. Special intesion will be given to the kinship systems in religious traditions of the world (for instance Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, totemist etc.) and kinship symolism in human religious behaviour.
