Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the early cinematography of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We will focus on the silent movies produced by companies Nordisk and Svenska Bio. We will deal both with works of world famous directors (Viktor Sjöström, Mauritz Stiller, Carl Theodor Dreyer) and directors of more local importance (Holger Madsen, Tancred Ibsen, Gustaf Molander).

  • 2/ 8. 10. Počátky a rozmach němého dánského filmu, produkční impérium Ole Olsena Nordisk Films kompagni, zrození ženy vamp a filmového polibku. Éra melodramatu
  • 3/ 15. 10. Asta Nielsen v němých filmech režisérů Urbana Gada, Augusta Bloma a Holgera Madsena. Projekce: Afgrunden/ The Abyss (1910), Balletdanserinden / The Ballet Dancer (1911), Den sorte drøm / The Black Dream (1911), Mod lyset/ Towards the Light (1919)
