Course objectives
The course is one of the four basic introductions into the partial areas of the art history. Its aim is to learn the understanding and the explaning of the architectural works through historical eras.
Syllabus
  • 1. What is an architecture? The search for its definition and its place within „arts“. & 2. The basic notions I: the function and the task. & 3. The basic notions II: the space and the place & 4. The basic notions III: the mass and the form & 5. The basic notions IV: the light. & 6. The basic notions V: the colour. & 7. The model and the project. & 8. The „prospect“ and the „planum“.. & 9. Three dimesions in the analysis of an architecture (formalism, functional and semantic). & 10. The structure (inner and external), the principle (tectonic and stereotomy) and the order. & 11. The description of the work of architecture, the architectural terms. & 12. The architectural interpretation and historiography of the architecture. & 13. The theory of architecture as an „explicatio“. &
