Course objectives
Development of speech kills, work with newspaper texts, orthography.
Syllabus
  • Linguistic exercices 1: being taught by two francophone lecturers, the course is prepared jointly in order to repeat some grammatical phenomena (pronunciation, homonymy/paronymy, using an/année, punctuation) and to work on the understanding as well as on the expression of thoughts. Understandig exercices with the help of dictated texts of Belgian and French authors and of songs. Frequent linguistic mistakes are brought up and corrected.

Teaching methods
Active participation in the course (only 2 missings are accepted). Participation on class discussions and all written homeworks are requested.
Assessment methods
Once enrolled in the class exercises, attendance is mandatory. Credit: is obtained for attendance and active participation in the course (min. 80 %) and after successfully completing a final test (success rate 80 %) where students prove their capability to connect theoretical knowledge with the analysis and interpretation of literary texts. Written test (dictation, lexical test, essay).
