Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following: practice of basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative Latin grammar necessary for understanding elementary Latin texts.
Syllabus
  • Basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative grammar Morphology: nouns 1st-3rd declension;
  • verbs 1st-4th conjunction: present system;
  • adjectivs 1st and 2nd decl.;
  • adverbs 1st-2nd decl.;
  • personal and possesive pronouns. Syntax: accusative with infinitive;
  • time clauses CUM HISTORICUM;
  • protatic clauses real and irreal;
  • final clauses.

Teaching methods
Seminars (grammar exercises, translating), 1,5 hours per week. Active class attendance and homework are required.
Assessment methods
Requirements for credit: regular class attendance (75%) and two written tests - one during the semester, final one during the examination period (passing score 65%).
