Course objectives
The course will provide the historical overview of the German theatre in the Czech lands and in Moravia, a field of study that has been neglected for a very long time. The student successfully passing this course will have the ability to understand the contexts of the German-Czech theatre coexistence, explain the social role of the German-language theatre in the Czech lands, interpret the influences of the German-language theatre on the formation of the Czech-language one, analyze the institutional circumstances of the German-language municipal theatre, and identify the important centres of German-language theatre in the Czech lands.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation – lecture (2 hours per week), discussion. Individual preparation – reading of texts. The lectures are given in Czech, students are expected to have a solid command of the Czech language.
