Course objectives
The course will focus on some aspects of history and development of Queer Cinema. Lectures will concentrate on the representation of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people, mainly in the history of American and West European Cinema. In detail we will focus on the work of some key queer filmmakers: Werner Schroeter, Rosa von Praunheim, Paul Morrissey, Derek Jarman, Todd Haynes, Barbara Hammer, Dorothy Arzner, Ulrike Ottinger or Monika Treut. The lecture will be supported by a set of video screenings.

This course supports students ability of understanding the term "queer" not only in the field of cinema.
This course provides a comprehensive historical overview of Queer Cinema.
This course provides an introduction to the analysing methods of queer motives in films.
