Course objectives
This course introduces undergraduate students into the history of the study of religions.
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand and recall the study of religion as a discipline grounded on its own intellectual base and with its academic autonomy;
- describe the main traditions of this discipline, as they developed from the 19th century untill recent times;
- understand particular methodologiacal approaches rised during the history of the study of religions; delineate major differences between academic study of religions and thelogy;
- understand and interpret discussions on the specificity of contemporary theories of religions;
- apply the gained knowledge during own research.

- oral exam: factographical knowledge, ability of interpreting particular topics within the history of the academic study of religions (50%)
