Course objectives
The course illustrates the basic course Christianity I. It aims at reading of some Christian texts, at more detailed accounts of selected topics and at work with multimedia (Christian art and architecture, religious music, etc.).
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- complete the image of Christianity with practical and non-textual aspects (rituals, Christian art and architecture, etc.)
- discuss the readings in Christian sources (gospels of childhood, Didache, Augustine of Hippo, etc.)
- restate the information from primary and secondary sources in analytical excerpts
- use some simple methods of textual criticism

  • (0) Introduction to the course. (1) Introduction to scientific work with texts. (2) Orthodoxy and heresy in the ancient Christianity. (3) Patrology. (4) Evolution of the Christian cult. (5) Monasticism, crusades, evolution of the papacy. (6) Later Middle Ages.
