Course objectives
Student will be able to understand screenwriting practice and individual constructive components of the screenplay at the end of this research seminar. Student will be also qualified to analyze the screenplay text, identify its position and function in the context of film production or to comprehend relationship between the screenplay and final product, i.e. feature film.

  • Screenwriting practice and the screenplay in the context of film historical research.
  • Screenwriting practice and the screenplay in the context of Czech cinema.
  • Professional identity of screenwriter.
  • Screenwriting manuals.
  • Analysis of the screenplay.
Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation by reading. Individual research.
Assessment methods
Each student will work out partial research in the extent of 5 standard pages.
