Basic methodological knowledge in the theory of cultural reception and cultural transfers. Detailed profiles of important personalities of the 19th and 20th centuries, who spread both knowledge and clichés about Czech culture
Syllabus
  • The course focuses mainly on the nascent tradition of French written documents on Czech culture as well as translations from Czech at the beginning of the 19th century: the basis was many translations of the Manuscripts; later this tradition developed in various ways – whether thanks to peculiar personalities (such as W. Nations and their cultures – French translations of the Manuscripts; A francophone Central Europeans lover – William Ritter, dandy; A poet of the communists? – Vladimír Holan.
